The Darker Side Of Life Theory Of Trauma
Dr Allan N Schore
Abuse can be physical, sexual or emotional & may create symptoms of PTSD. Abuse that we have suffered at a young age is often suppressed into the unconscious and has the potential to arise in later life as ‘unknown’ emotional & physical symptoms.
Trauma pioneer Dr Allan Schore explains that there was no theory of trauma in psychology until the late 90’s. Progress in brain science and the understanding of emotions allowed this to come into being. Bear explains his journey with trauma through abuse that he lived unaware of, for 43 years. After his father died, body memories began to return while he was on The Hoffman Process. Dr Schore explains that to be able to get to grips with abuse trauma we need to get into the unconscious right brain as that is where trauma is held.
